By Bus
Buses ply to Varkala via Trivandrum, an important bus stop. The state-run KSRTC bus service, as well as private companies like KTC Travels, Kallada Travels and KSBC Travels, have an excellent network across Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka. Therefore, making travelling to Trivandrum easy. Once at Trivandrum, you can take a local bus, autorickshaw, or taxi to drive down to Varkala, which is approximately 60 minutes away from the city.
By Flight
Varkala can only be accessed via Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum), which is where the closest airport is located. Trivandrum is very well-connected to major Indian cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kochi, and Kolkata. Major airlines like Air India, Jet Airways, Spice Jet, Indigo, Emirates, Qatar and Etihad Airlines operate the Trivandrum sector, though Indigo Airlines is the only one that offers a daily direct flight from Delhi to Trivandrum. Barring Hyderabad and Kolkata, the other major cities have daily direct flights to this state capital.
